colour_trace - brighten up your trace files

This program reads a trace file containing hexadecimal pointer values like 0x94f41a2 and colours them. Each pointer value gets its own colour, so you can see at a glance which values are the same.

Download

The latest version is 1.0.5. This has documentation fixes only since 1.0.4.

Example

Before:

uncoloured trace

After:

output from colour_trace

Terminal support

xterm has a bug, or at least an odd feature, where the background colour can get messed up when scrolling. You may see this occasionally when running colour_trace.

Copying

All the files are in the public domain. This means there are no copyright restrictions, you may do what you wish with them. Of course, giving credit would be appreciated (but not required).

They are offered as-is with no warranty whatsoever.
